Zhejiang
Zhejiang, whose name originated from the longest river, Qiantang River (in the province), which is called “Jiang” or “Zhejiang” in Pinyin because of its zigzag river flow, is named after such river and traditionally called “Zhe” for short. Its provincial capital is Hangzhou.
I. I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Zhejiang Province
1.A comprehensive high-yield agricultural area in China. Tea, natural silk, aquatic products, citrus and bamboo articles, etc. have an important position in China.
2.A province with the most islands in China, its sea areas covered 260,000m2. There are 3,061 islands with their area more than 500 m2.
3.A province with developed modern business. For Zhejiang, a province located in the southern wing of the Yangtze Delta, industry and business have been equally emphasized. It presents a prosperous trade and many merchants and people gather here, and people live a better life.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Zhejiang Province: By 2005, the non-public economic entities in Zhejiang realized an increase totaling RMB955,600,000,000, accounting for 71.5% of the gross regional product in Zhejiang, an increase of 1.2% over 2007. The individual and private economy entities realized an increase amounting to RMB761,800,000,000, making up 57%, an increase of 1% over 2007.
