Xizang Autonomous Region
Xizang Autonomous Region (Tibet), which is called “Zang” for short, is located on the southwest border in China, and borders on India, Nepal, Sikkim, Burma, etc. Qingzang Plateau in Tibet is the highest plateau with the largest area in the world and is therefore recognized as the “Roof of the World”.
I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Tibet
1.Tibet has one of the five largest pasturelands in China, which covers 1,240,000,000 Mu including 800million Mu that is usable. The livestock on hand is 23,000,000. The annual outputs of wool, quviut & cashmere and fur are 9,000 tons, 1,400 tons and 4 million pieces respectively.
2.There are 100 kinds of minerals in Tibet, 30 of which are proven in respect of their reserves. The reserves of lithium, boron, chrome, copper, etc. have an important position in China. The lithium reserves account for half of the global reserves.
3.Tibet has superior and unique tourist resources such as mountain scenery, water scenery, land scenery, sky scenery, etc., which reflect and shine mutually, presenting a colorful and beautiful scene.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Tibet: By 2008, there were 65,000 individual industrial and commercial households (a year-on-year increase of 6.4%) in Tibet, with registered capital totaling RMB1,692,000,000 (a year-on-year increase of 11.7%), and there were 250,000 persons (a year-on-year increase of 17.9%) employed to serve the individual industrial and commercial households. There were 4,393 private enterprises (a year-on-year increase of 22.09%) in Tibet, with registered capital totaling RMB7,250,000,000 (a year-on-year increase of 22.36%), and there were 38,600 persons (a year-on-year increase of 11.28%) employed to serve the private enterprises.
Learn from experience and make more explorations, upgrade CSMEF to CISMEF, better promote the development and cooperation between ChineseSMEs and those of other countries.
