Beijing
Beijing, which is called “Jing” for short, is the capital of China. It is the political and cultural center of China and the hub of international exchange. Due to its all-round, multiple-level and wide opening framework, Beijing has become the most attractive International city for foreign investments.
I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Beijing
1.Beijing is the nation-wide financial decision-making and macro adjustment and control center city. Major financial institutions such as the Central Bank, other policy banks, commercial banks and commercial insurance companies are headquartered in Beijing. The nation-wide monetary and financial policies are formulated and issued in Beijing.
2Beijing is a city with the highest modern level of urban infrastructures. The radial traffic trunk lines of the urban areas to peripheral locations extend in all directions. With completion of Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu, Beijing-Shijiazhuang, and Capital Airport Expressways, the modern traffic system framework has been formed.
3.Beijing is one of the cities with comprehensive economic strengths in China. Beijing has formed its secondary industry with a solid basis, complete sectors and complete systems. At present, Beijing highlights the adjustment of industrial structure and layout and actively develops the hi-tech industry and new industries with light quality, low energy consumption and free of pollution.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Beijing:
By 2008, there were over 300,000 SMEs in Beijing, accounting for 99% of enterprises in Beijing. Such SMEs contributed at least 60% of the main operating revenues in Beijing and paid taxes totaling over 50% of those paid by enterprises in Beijing. The employees serving SMEs accounted for more than 80% of those serving enterprises in Beijing. The technicians working in the SMEs accounted for at least 80% of those working in enterprises in Beijing. The quantity of the S&T projects of the SMEs accounted for over 90% of that of S&T projects undertaken by enterprises in Beijing.
Learn from experience and make more explorations, upgrade CSMEF to CISMEF, better promote the development and cooperation between ChineseSMEs and those of other countries.
