Qinghai Province is located in Qingzang Plateau

Qinghai Province is located in Qingzang Plateau, situated in West China. Qinghai is named after its largest inland salt lake, Qing Hai Lake (Blue Lake), in China.
I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Qinghai Province
１．resource-oriented province. 123 kinds of minerals have been discovered so far. Among the proven minerals reserves, 50 kinds of minerals rank top 10 in China, and 11 kinds rank first in China. 
２．One of the five largest pasturelands and one of the important livestock farming production bases. The grasslands covering 500million Mu can be used. And the quantity of various kinds of livestock is up to 23,000,000. 
３．Salt lake resources with large reserves, high-quality, complete kinds, centralized distribution, good resource combination and superior exploitation conditions.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Qinghai Province: By 2006, there were 20,800 SMEs and individual units in Qinghai, accounting for 99.9% of the enterprises in Qinghai. The SMEs realized an increase of RMB10,325,000,000, an increase of 210% over 2002. The annual growth rate was 20.38%. The scale-sized SMEs contributed industrial output totaling RMB16,507,000,000, profits amounting to RMB852,000,000, profit taxes totaling RMB1,777,000,000, an increase of 219%, 439% and 262% over 2002 respectively. And the annual growth rates of these three items were 21.65%, 44.75% and 27.23% respectively.
