Jiangsu

Jiangsu, which is called “Su” for short, is located in the center of the eastern coastal area of Mainland China. Topographically, it is low and even due to many distributed plains; there are many rivers and lakes, which occupy a great percentage, ranking first place in China. 

I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Jiangsu Province
１．Rich mineral resources. Because Jiangsu spans the two geologic structure units of North China plate and Yangzi para-platform, Jiangsu abounds in non-ferrous metals, siallite, building materials, rare metals, special non-metal minerals, etc., which is one of its advantages.
２．Jiangsu is recognized as the famous “Land of Fish and Rice”. Jiangsu is richly endowed with exceptional advantages for agricultural production. There are many kinds of crops, trees and livestock and poultry. Such crops as grains, cotton and oilseed are distributed throughout almost the whole province.
3．A province with developed secondary industry. It is a nation-wide textile, mechanics, electronics, petrochemicals and building materials production base. Its industrial increment has ranked among the highest in China for several years.

II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Jiangsu Province: By 2006, 3929 private scale-sized industrial enterprises in Jiangsu realized industrial output totaling RMB382,840,000,000, an increase of 23.6%, and the average output was RMB97,440,000. Six famous domestic trademarks and twelve domestic brands were increased, with their accumulative quantity up to 22 trademarks and 41 brands respectively. The percentage of the economic tax revenues paid by the private and individual economic entities was 30.8% of the total tax revenues in Jiangsu, an increase of 0.3% over the previous year. The private and individual economic entities contributed investments of up to 31.3% of the social fixed assets investments, an increase of 1.2% over the previous year.
