Hu’nan
Hu’nan, located to the south of the middle reaches of the Changjiang River, is called “Hu’nan” because most of its territory is situated to the south of the Dongting Lake (lake is spelled “hu” in Pinyin) and called “Xiang” for short because the Xiang River that is the longest river in the province runs through the province from south to north.
I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Hu’nan Province
1.One of the timber production bases located to the south of the Changjiang River in China, having various species of plants, including 64 species of nationally protected rare and precious plants and three species of first-class protected plants.
2.A big province with abundant mineral resource reserves and therefore called “Non-Ferrous Metal Hometown” and “Non-metallic Hoetown”.
3.A province with immensely rich tourist resources, therefore called a “Tourist Resort”, with 15 big famous tourist areas and over 100 scenic spots.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Hu’nan Province: By 2008, the non-public economy entities in Hu’nan realized an increase totaling RMB625,227,000,000, accounting for 56% of the gross regional product in Hu’nan, an increase of 1.5%. The industry entities with a scale above the non-public economy system realized an increase amounting to RMB196,544,000,000, having an increase of 25.9%, taking 55% of the industrial increment of the entities above the scale. The investment of non-state owned economy amounted to RMB366,429,000,000, increasing by 33.2% and taking 64.9% of the social fixed assets investment, having a rise of 0.8% over 2007. The gross import and export of the private enterprises totaled USD5,241,000,000, which was USD110,000,000 more than that of the state-owned enterprises. The total and increment of the gross import and export of the private enterprises exceeded those of the state-owned enterprises respectively for the first time.
