Heilongjiang
Heilongjiang Province is named after the Heilongjiang River, which is the longest river in Heilongjiang Province, and is referred to as “Hei” for short. Its provincial capital is Haerbin, located in the remote northern part of the Heilongjiang River Northern Area.
I. Development Overview of the Social Economy in Heilongjiang Province
1.A province with abundant mineral resources reserves. Among 160 known kinds of minerals in the world, 150 kinds of minerals exist in China, and 131 kinds of minerals have been discovered, and 74 kinds of minerals have been proven in respect of their reserves.
2.A province with developed agriculture. It abounds in food crops such as soy, wheat, corn, potato, rice, etc. and cash crops like sugar beet, flax, flue-cured tobacco, etc.
3.Full of high-quality grassland resources. The grassland in Heilongjiang Province covers approximately 4.33 million hectares. Due to good quality grass with high nutritional value, it is suitable for development of animal husbandry. Songnen Grassland is one of the three largest leymus chinensis grasslands in the world.
II. Development Overview of the SMEs in Heilongjiang Province: Heilongjiang Province made great achievements in respect of SMEs, village and township enterprises and the non-public ownership economy. In 2007, the non-public economy entities in Heilongjiang Province realized an increase totaling RMB284,170,000,000, accounting for 40.2% of the GDP in Heilongjiang Province, realized tax revenues amounting to RMB30,900,000,000, taking 34.7% of the total tax revenues in Heilongjiang Province. 6,583,000 persons were employed to serve the SMEs.
