On June 30, 2009, the 6th CISMEF presentation was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The representatives from the Organizing Committee of the CISMEF, the relevant government authorities of Sichuan Province, the economic and trade commissions and SME bureaus of the cities and prefectures of Sichuan Province and some enterprises attended the presentation.

According to the briefing by the leaders of the Secretariat of Organizing Committee of CISMEF, the 6th CISMEF is scheduled to be held from September 22 to 25, 2009 at Guangzhou’s International Conference and Convention Center. The exhibition area of the CISMEF will exceed 100,000 square meters and the 5000 international exhibition booths will be provided. The 6th CISMEF is co-sponsored by: the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, China Banking Regulatory Commission and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade of Spain. The CISMEF has been held successfully for five times since 2004. Now it has become China’s largest and foremost international trade fair oriented and serving SMEs. For five years, more than 60 countries organized the delegations to participate in the CISMEF, and a total of 17000 SMEs both at home and abroad have taken part in the CISMEF, and more than 1.10 million merchants have visited, purchased and held business talks at the CISMEF.

Zhang Guobin, vice director-general of SME Bureau of Sichuan Province, pointed out that the SMEs of Sichuan Province are at critical period of important strategic opportunities, they face many favorable conditions and positive factors. At the same time, the crisis also means opportunity. The series of measures taken by the central government for supporting the development of SME provide more relaxed policy environment and more equal market access and more direct and effective financing support. The CISMEF is a good platform established by the government for supporting SMEs, so SMEs shall actively participate in the CISMEF for seeking better development opportunities.

Last but not least, the leaders of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of the CISMEF invite SMEs, financial institutions, intermediary service agency, purchasers and the investors of Sichuan Province to actively participate in the CISMEF and continue to extend vigorous support to the CISMEF. After the meeting, the leaders and the attendees conducted a full exchange and in-depth discussions on the relevant issues.
