Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, formally visited Spain during January 30th-31st, 2009. During his visit, the Chinese side and Spanish side signed and released the Joint Communique of the Kingdom of Spain and the People’s Republic of China on Further Deepening All-around Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Spain and the People’s Republic of China, pursuant to paragraph 2 of Article 3 of which, “China is willing to organize together with Spain the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair in 2009 which is a platform for the two countries to strengthen cooperation of the SMEs from the two countries.” The CISMEF is the third time it has been listed into the Joint Communique of the hosting countries following co-hosting with Japan and Korea, which fully reflects that China and other countries pay great attention to the development of SMEs.

Co-hosting by China and Spain of the 6th CISMEF being listed in the Joint Communique of the Kingdom of Spain and the People's Republic of China on Further Deepening an All-around Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Spain and the People's Republic of China was another significant advance of the 6th CISMEF preparation works after visit by Mr. Huang Hua hua, Director of the CISMEF Organizing Committee & Governor of Guangdong Province and Mr. Tong Xing, Executive Director of the CISMEF Organizing Committee & Vice Governor of Guangdong Province to Spain and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Organization of the 6th CISMEF by China and Spain in October 2008. Joint organization of the 6th CISMEF by China and Spain was significantly enhanced to the level of deepening the overall strategic partnership between China and Spain.
