Lin Pingfan: Invite little giant of SMEs and make the Fair become famous around the world

 It is the 5th CISMEF now and many people focus on the development of the fair. This is an interview with Lin Pinfan, research institute director of Enterprises Management and Decision Science of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences. He suggested CISMEF should learn from the canton fair and the Organizing Committee should invite superior enterprises from various regions to participate in this fair, then to expand international cooperation, to strengthen the brand awareness, and further make the fair become world famous.
Reporter: We know that getting exhibitors is very important for the fair; do you have some suggestion on this? What should this fair do with such work?
Linpingfan: CISEMEF should invite "Little Giant" of SMEs, or SMEs with technological advantage, or with brand advantage, in a word, should invite the industry leader. Enterprises’ core competitiveness is often based on the key technologies that can not be copied. If we can have cooperation and exchange with such SMEs, then it will enhance the competitiveness of SMEs in China. In addition, the enterprises with brands should also be invited. Brand is very important for traditional industrial enterprises. Now Guangdong Province is transferring and upgrading its industries, that is, from labor-intensive to technology-intensive. So with the aim to promote the development of SMEs and to serve SMEs, CISMEF should closely follow up the situation to attract enterprises that are currently demanded by the fair, with high-end technology and advanced management mode, to exchange and cooperate here in the fair.
Reporter: CISMEF becomes an international event; more and more countries to participate in the fair, especially in this session, enterprises from 45 ASEM members will attend the fair as exhibitors or visitors. Do you have some suggestions for it continuing internationalization?
Linpingfan: all 45 countries of ASEM members will appear is good news for the fair. In order to bring the fair to the international, to the world, first of all, we must expand the cooperation with other countries, not only to expand the cooperation with countries around the world, but also expand cooperation with regional alliance, regional organizations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Union. This will make the fair a higher degree of internationalization, so this is the Expo where we need to strive for.
In addition, publicity is an important guarantee to expand its influence, enhance its brand and make it sound in the world. In particular, should step up publicity efforts abroad. If CISMEF wants to become international and enhance its brand, the committee must implement the publicity abroad. For example, invite Consul General and Embassy staff to participate, invite more business circles and business groups to participate, and keep in touch with them after the fair to get feedback in time.
Reporter:It is the fifth session now, how can it continuously make use of its advantages ?
Linpingfan: CISMEF has its own advantages. There are 7 ministries and 1 province as its sponsors this year while 6 ministries and 1 province last year. This shows that the state treats it an importance event. Various and wonderful activities including “Senior Forum on SMEs”, “Project Promotion for SMEs”, “Purchase Introduction for SMEs”, “Talks on SMEs Financing”  and  “Theme Trainings for SMEs”  are held every year. This is a major highlight of it and makes it different from other fairs. CISMEF should further carry forward this highlight in the further. For example, expand the contents and scope of the Forum, invite the United States, Japan, Italy and other countries to introduce the official policy of the Government to support SMEs, to promote SME financing, guarantees and other experiences.
