CISMEF International Cooperative Partnership Program Signing Ceremony on Cloud Held to Promote Exchanges with SMEs of the UAE and New Zealand
To further expand the cooperation mechanism for exhibitor invitation and investment promotion of the China International SME Fair (CISMEF) and better organize overseas SMEs to participate in the Fair, the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of CISMEF organized a CISMEF International Cooperative Partnership Program Signing Ceremony on Cloud with the Guangdong Emirates Business Union and the Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand on September 8. It is also the first event among the series of “Online CISMEF” signing events.
The event was simultaneously held in Guangzhou of China, Dubai of the United Arab Emirates and Auckland of New Zealand respectively, with cooperation agreements jointly signed by the Bureau of CISMEF, the Guangdong Emirates Business Union and Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand in the form of “Cloud Signing” via a video call. Wu Hong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, Ao Yan, Secretary-General of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong), He Zuoxian, Deputy Director-General of Guangdong SME Bureau, Abdulla Saeed Alzaabi, Director of External Branches at the Dubai Department of Economic Development, Nasser Al Suwaidi, an expert from Dubai Investment and Development Agency, and Martin Thomson, Chairman of New Zealand China Trade Association, attended and witnessed the event.
Wu Hong pointed out that, since its establishment in 2004, the CISMEF has remained true to its mission of providing a comprehensive service platform for display, trade, exchange and cooperation for SMEs worldwide. The “Cloud Signing” officially marks that the CISMEF, Guangdong Emirates Business Union and Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand have entered a stage of substantive cooperation. It shows the important achievement of the regular cooperation mechanism jointly established by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province and the CCPIT Guangdong and is also a useful exploration made by all parties to jointly promote CISMEF’s long-term development and help SMEs at home and abroad expand both domestic and international markets. It will open a new chapter for the overseas exhibitor invitation and investment promotion for the CISMEF and facilitate the realization of the beautiful vision that all parties make great efforts to serve the sound development of SMEs. The CISMEF will continue to upgrade and improve its online platform, integrate online and offline resources and establish a co-construction and sharing mechanism to empower each other. In this way, it will attract the world’s outstanding SMEs to develop in China and help Chinese SMEs go global to explore the international market. The CISMEF will make better use of both domestic and international markets and resources in these markets, and meet General Secretary Xi Jinping’s requirement for a “dual circulation” development pattern in which domestic economic cycle plays a leading role while international economic cycle remains its extension and supplement.
According to Ao Yan, over the 16 years since the 1st CISMEF was held, the CISMEF has made important contributions to the high-quality development and internationalization of China’s SMEs. Established under the guidance and promotion of the CCPIT Guangdong, the Canton Chamber of Commerce in UAE and the Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand are two influential and powerful economic and trade organizations in their respective countries. The long-acting cooperation mechanisms between the CISMEF and both chambers will provide SMEs in the UAE and New Zealand with more opportunities for exchanges and collaboration, and empower Guangdong Province to enhance its economic and trade cooperation with the two countries and achieve rapid economic recovery. As one of the organizers, the CCPIT Guangdong will continue to function as an advantageous platform rich in overseas resources to facilitate SMEs in Guangdong Province to engage in the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Wang Jiazheng said that the CISMEF has been held for 16 consecutive sessions, providing huge amounts of trade and exchange opportunities for SMEs. There is great potential for trade cooperation between SMEs in China and New Zealand. The Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand will make greater efforts to organize more excellent New Zealand enterprises and products to participate in the CISMEF and make positive contributions to the economic and trade cooperation and development between New Zealand and China.
According to Lai Zexin, the CISMEF has set up a display, trade, exchange and cooperation platform for SMEs in the UAE and other countries, and has strengthened economic and cultural exchanges between China and other countries, especially the Belt and Road countries. Guangdong Emirates Business Union will give full play to its resource advantages, organize high-quality SMEs of the UAE to participate in the CISMEF, promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between SMEs in China and the UAE, and unleash the potential of SMEs of both countries.
CISMEF is the only event approved by the State Council of China that focuses on national-level exhibitions of SMEs. Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, State Administration for Market Regulation, and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, it is an international exhibition for SMEs with the highest standard, the largest scale and the widest influence in the Asia-Pacific region. It has been held for 16 consecutive sessions since 2004. CISMEF attracts nearly 3,000 domestic and foreign SMEs every year. Since the first event, the number of domestic and foreign enterprises has reached nearly 50,000, among which there are more than 10,000 foreign enterprises. In addition, CISMEF has cumulative booths of 84,000, attracting merchants and visitors of over 3.72 million. The mechanism of the co-host country started from the 2nd CISMEF in 2005, involving 19 countries and international organizations across five continents. CISMEF has also established distinctive international cooperation mechanisms including the Participation Mechanism of ASEM Members, the South-South Cooperation Mechanism and the China-CEEC SME Coordination Mechanism.
